If you have bed bugs, they can be very difficult for you to remove them on your own. This is why you should contact a pest control service to get them out. There are also things you can do to keep bed bugs under control so you will not have to worry about them coming back again, three of which are listed below.

Remove Clutter

If you have clutter in your home, especially in your bedroom, you need to remove it. Clutter gives bed bugs a place to hide in your home and because they are so small you would not notice them.

If you have a lot of clothes piled up, sell them, give them away, or put them up. You may have a lot of books stacked up. If so, donate them to the library or purchase a bookshelf to keep them on. This will not only help keep bed bugs under control, but your home will also look much neater.

Move Your Bed

Another thing you can do to keep bed bugs under control is moving your bed. For example, if your bed is up against the wall or any furniture, move it away from them. It will be harder for bed bugs to get into the bed if they do not have something to crawl off of. For example, they may crawl onto your bed from furniture near it.

If you are not able to move your bed to a new area of the room, simply push it away from the wall a few inches or away from other furniture a few inches. This also allows you to clean around your bed much easier, which is also important to keep bed bugs under control.

Clean Your Home

You need to keep your home clean, especially your bedroom. Change the sheets regularly and wash them on a hot setting, if possible. Vacuum the room, including around windows and molding once a day. Use a hose attachment on the vacuum cleaner to vacuum seams and the sides of mattresses and box springs, as well as any furniture in your home.

Inspect the curtains as well as bed bugs may hide in the seams or somewhere else on the curtains. If you have not washed the curtains in a while either wash them yourself or send them out to have them cleaned.
